Kubota L225 Tractor Service Manual

This service manual is the workshop repair reference for the Kubota L225 compact diesel tractor and its Kubota D1100-A engine, running roughly 94 pages of disassembly, assembly, inspection, adjustment, and troubleshooting procedures. It's a true service manual — component-level teardown and repair, not just operation — backed by maintenance standards, torque specifications, and a special-tools reference. Originally published by Kubota and delivered here as an instant PDF download you can read on any device or print for the bench.

Configurations covered: L225F · L225T · L225FP · L225TP · L225FA · L225FAP (farm-tire, turf-tire, 3-point-hitch, and tread-adjustable variants)

About the Kubota L225

The L225 was part of Kubota's L-series of compact utility tractors and was produced from 1974 to 1976. It's powered by the Kubota D1100-A — a vertical, water-cooled, three-cylinder, four-cycle diesel of 1,115 cc (68.3 cu. in.) producing 24 hp at 2,700 rpm. Power runs through a dry single-plate clutch and a geared transmission with eight forward and two reverse speeds, with a transmission-mounted PTO and a hydraulic three-point lifter.

Built in Japan, the L225 sold in several configurations — farm-tire (F) and turf-tire (T) versions, with optional three-point hitch (P) and tread-adjustable (FA) variants — covered together in this manual. Like much of the early Kubota L-series, these tractors earned a reputation for durable, economical diesel power in a small package, and a great many remain in active service on small farms, properties, and turf operations today. That longevity is exactly why a complete factory service reference still matters: parts and machines are out there, and the procedures to keep them running correctly live in this book.

What This Manual Covers

  • Engine: Main parts and handling instructions for the fuel system, lubrication system, combustion system, main moving parts, and main component parts of the D1100-A diesel.
  • Front axle & steering: Internal structure, disassembly and assembly, checks and maintenance, front wheel alignment, and the ball-screw steering system.
  • Clutch & main shaft: Structure, disassembly and assembly, clutch adjustment, maintenance, and a guide to clutch troubles and remedies.
  • Transmission & PTO: Structure, disassembly and assembly, and maintenance of the transmission (including PTO transmission).
  • Differential & rear axle: Disassembly and assembly, spiral bevel pinion and gear adjustment, differential-lock handling precautions, maintenance, and rear wheel tread adjustment.
  • Brakes: Internal structure, disassembly and assembly, maintenance, and brake pedal adjustment.
  • Hydraulic system: Function and handling, hydraulic link adjustment, plus disassembly, repair, and testing of the hydraulic pump, control valve, and cylinder — with a dedicated hydraulic troubleshooting section.
  • Electrical systems: Dynamo with charging indication, regulator, starter, glow plug, switch-system troubleshooting, and periodical battery checking.
  • Reference charts: Maintenance standards for the D1100-A engine and L225 tractor, torque specifications, and special tools for Kubota tractors.

Why This Manual Matters

  • Component-level repair, not just operation. This is a workshop service manual — it walks through tearing down and rebuilding the clutch, transmission, differential, hydraulics, and engine systems, which is what you need when a repair goes past routine maintenance.
  • The reference data the job depends on. Torque specifications, maintenance standards, and special-tool callouts are included, so you can reassemble to spec rather than guess.
  • Diesel-specific procedures. Fuel injection pump and nozzle specs, injection timing and pressure, glow-plug and decompression starting, and charging-system service are all documented for the D1100-A — the details that generic guides don't carry.
  • Hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting. Dedicated troubleshooting sections for the hydraulic and switch systems help you trace a fault instead of replacing parts blindly.
  • Long service life, scarce documentation. These 1970s L-series Kubotas are still working machines, but factory service literature for them is increasingly hard to come by — this PDF puts the complete manual back in your hands.
