About the Ford 9000
The Ford 9000 was the largest tractor Ford built in its era: a turbocharged six-cylinder diesel of 401 cu. in. (6571 cc) rated at 2200 rpm, weighing between 9,800 and 10,320 lbs. bare depending on configuration. Steering is hydrostatic with a tiltable and telescopic wheel, brakes are self-compensating hydraulic wet discs, and the hydraulics run a PTO-driven gear pump delivering 16 gpm at a 2500 psi relief setting, feeding a Category II or III three-point linkage.
It was offered in All Purpose and Row Crop configurations, with a wide adjustable front axle or dual front wheels, and with either an 8-speed or the Dual Power transmission. That last choice changes the service fill: 69 quarts in the rear axle and transmission against 64 for the 8-speed.
One thing to check before buying an implement: the 9000's power take-off is 1000 rpm. The specification section gives an engine speed for 1000 rpm PTO operation and no 540 rpm figure at all. If you are running 540 rpm equipment, that matters.
