Ford 1900 Tractor Specifications

Specs HubFord › 1900

Complete specifications for the Ford 1900 compact tractor, transcribed from the specifications section of the factory operator's manual (SE 3753). The 1900 is the largest tractor in this group and the only one here with a three-cylinder engine: 1429 cc rated at 2800 rpm, producing 26.5 observed PTO horsepower against the 1700's 23.0. It runs twelve forward gears and four reverse on 12.4 × 24 rear tires, with a Live Position Control Category 1 three-point hitch and a gear pump delivering 5.9 gpm.

Bare weight is 2589 lbs. in two-wheel drive or 2822 lbs. in four-wheel drive, on a wheelbase of 63 to 64 inches and a 30 litre fuel tank, the largest in the range.

Engine Oil

Ford specified Ford M2C121-A (Ford 300) engine oil. Should Ford engine oil not be readily available, the manual gives these commercial equivalents:

Commercial Engine Oil by Temperature
Use Temperature Viscosity Grade
Severe cold Below 32°F (0°C) SAE 10W
Winter 32° to 50°F (0° to 10°C) SAE 20W
Summer Above 50°F (10°C) SAE 30W

Fuel sulfur note, as printed: with a sulfur content below 1.0%, an API CC oil may be used instead of CD, but the oil change interval must be reduced to 50 hours and the filter changed every 100 hours. Between 1.0% and 1.3% sulfur a CD oil must be used (except at 10°F and below), with the same reduced 50-hour oil and 100-hour filter intervals. Fuel with a sulfur content above 1.3% is not recommended.

Notes:
1 Reproduced as printed, but the imperial figure is wrong and the digits appear to have been transposed. Two independent checks give 87.2 rather than 82.7. First, the manual's own metric figure: 1429 cc is 87.2 cu. in. Second, the geometry: a 3.35 in. bore and 3.31 in. stroke across three cylinders displaces about 87.5 cu. in. Both point to 87.2 and neither supports 82.7. The metric value of 1429 cc is the one to trust.
2 Reproduced as printed. 1/2 in. is 1.27 centimetres, not millimetres. The Ford 1000 and 1600 manuals print this same figure correctly as “0 – 1/2 inch (0 – 1.27 cm)”.
3 Reproduced as printed. These two figures do not convert: 12.3 ft. is about 375 cm, and 315 cm is about 10.3 ft. One of the two is wrong and the manual gives no way to tell which.
4 The manual prints “See table on page 22” here, referring to the engine oil recommendations reproduced above.
5 The manual presents ground speeds as a bar chart rather than a table. The values above are the endpoint figures printed on that chart at 1400 and 2800 rpm. They are transcribed, not measured from the graph. This chart is internally consistent with the 1900's own specifications: it is shod on the 12.4-24 standard rear tire and runs to the 1900's rated 2800 rpm.
